St Oliver’s Post Primary School Makes National Headlines with “Wear Again Wednesday” Campaign

Mar 13, 2026

St Oliver’s Post Primary School in Oldcastle has earned national recognition after its innovative ‘Wear Again Wednesday’ campaign was featured on RTÉ News. The initiative, which challenges students to swap their school uniforms for pre-owned clothing for one day a week, is shining a powerful spotlight on the movement against fast fashion — and inspiring young people to think differently about what they wear.

‘Wear Again Wednesday’ is more than a dress-down day — it’s a statement. By encouraging pupils to choose pre-loved clothing, St Oliver’s is making the case that sustainable fashion can be stylish, accessible, and fun. The school has also staged full fashion shows featuring exclusively pre-owned clothing — proving that circular fashion doesn’t mean compromising on flair.

St Oliver’s efforts reflect a growing generational shift within LMETB schools. As highlighted at the Green Schools Conference in November, young people across the region are increasingly driving conversations around consumption, climate change, and corporate accountability in the fashion industry.

Congratulations to all the students, staff, and everyone involved in making ‘Wear Again Wednesday’ a campaign that has captured the attention of the whole country.
