Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Muireann Broderick, as Deputy Principal at Ashbourne Community National School, Ashbourne, Co. Meath.
Muireann has worked both as a Special Education Teacher and Class Teacher at Ashbourne CNS since the opening of the school in September 2019. She has supported the principal and the in school leadership team in the growth and development of the school through her role as Assistant Principal and Acting Deputy Principal.
Muireann holds a Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership from University of Limerick,
an Advanced Diploma in Law and Education from King’s Inns, a Master of Education from
University College Dublin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Special Education from
Froebel College of Education and a Bachelor of Education from Mary Immaculate College,
University of Limerick.

Muireann has an extensive range of experience in the areas of Curriculum Development and Review, Policy Development and Review, Teacher PD, Special Education, Building and sustaining effective Parent School Partnerships, supporting Inclusion and Diversity across the curriculum, Induction of Newly Qualified teachers (Droichead), development and implementation of literacy and numeracy initiatives and development of the Green Schools Programme at the school. Muireann looks forward to enhancing these areas in the school and supporting other colleagues to take on leadership roles within the school.
Bringing a wealth of experience to the post, Muireann has also served as Teacher Nominee on the inaugural Board of Management for shbourne CNS from 2019 – 2023. She has also been a Management Committee member of Navan Education Support Centre since 2018.
Speaking about her appointment Muireann states that “I’m truly excited to step into the role of Deputy Principal and to embrace the new challenges and opportunities it brings. I look forward to working closely with Principal Eoin Murphy and the entire school community as
we continue to move the school forward and ensure it meets the evolving needs of our students, staff, and families.”
As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Muireann will also have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB’s eighteen Post Primary schools, three other Community National Schools, Cara Community Special School, three PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in Dunshaughlin.
LMETB schools receive considerable support, guidance and direction from the Director of Schools, Ms. Fiona Kindlon and within the Organisation, Support and Development Directorate, LMETB Schools and Colleges avail of a range of supports including Human Resources, Buildings, ICT, Finance and Corporate and Education Services. This network of support at Head Office level supports the work of the LMETB Board in ensuring that all LMETB schools/colleges/centres are compliant in the areas of Corporate Governance.
Muireann looks forward to engaging with personnel in these sections of LMETB over the coming weeks as she plans for transition to her new leadership role as Deputy Principal within LMETB.
