Ms. Suzanne Markey appointed to the position of Deputy Principal at Beaufort College, Navan, Co. Meath

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Suzanne Markey, as Deputy Principal at Beaufort College, Navan, Co. Meath. Suzanne has been a member of staff of Beaufort College since 2007 where she has worked as an Assistant
Principal holder and teacher of Irish and Geography.

Suzanne joins Mr. Ken Flynn, Principal, Ms. Anne Marie Mc Carrick, Deputy Principal and Ms. Karen Tobin, Deputy Principal as part of the Senior Leadership and Management Team at the school.

As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Suzanne will have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB’s other seventeen Post Primary schools, four Community National Schools, three PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in

Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Nua – Ghaeilge from Maynooth University, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Dublin City University, a Masters in Health Promotion from University of Galway and a Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership and Management from
University of Limerick.

Suzanne has significant experience and expertise in the areas of School Leadership, Management and Governance, Board of Management, DEIS, Inclusion, Wellbeing, Curriculum and Policy Development and Review, School Self Evaluation, Monitoring and Tracking of student performance
and student engagement, integration of Digital technologies in the curriculum and Positive Behaviour Management in schools.

Suzanne recognises the link between high quality teaching, learning and assessment methods and student attendance, retention, achievement and attainment and she is committed to supporting and promoting student attendance, student retention, teacher professional development, staff and student voice and wellbeing initiatives at the school.

Suzanne will also work closely with all members of the school community to map out and action pathways for progression to Third Level/Further Education and/or apprenticeships for students attending the school.

LMETB schools receive considerable support, guidance and direction from the Director of Schools, Ms. Fiona Kindlon and within the Organisation, Support and Development Directorate, LMETB Schools and Colleges avail of a range of supports including Human Resources, Buildings, ICT, Finance and Corporate and Education Services.

This network of support at Head Office level supports the work of the LMETB Board in ensuring that all LMETB schools/colleges/centres are compliant in the areas of Corporate Governance.

Suzanne looks forward to engaging with personnel in these sections of LMETB over the coming weeks as she plans for transition to her new leadership role within LMETB.
