Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Ruair\u00ed Mc Gorman, as Deputy Principal at Cara Community Special School, Enfield, Co. Meath. Cara Community Special School, Enfield, Co. Meath is a Community Special School which will open in the 2024\/2025 academic year under the patronage of LMETB. Cara Community Special School will provide an appropriate education for students, aged 4 to 18 years old, who have a diagnosis of Autism and complex learning needs, with a professional recommendation for a Special School placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruair\u00ed joins Ms. Katie Callaghan, Principal, Cara Community Special School as a member of the Senior Leadership team at the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruair\u00ed holds a Higher Diploma in Arts in Primary Education from Hibernia College, Dublin. Ruair\u00ed joins Cara Community Special School from St. Michael\u2019s Special School, Chapelizod, Dublin 20 where he has worked as a Special Class Teacher with students with Autism and Complex Learning needs since 2016. Prior to this Ruair\u00ed worked as a Learning Support Teacher in St. Paul\u2019s National School, Ratoath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ruair\u00ed has significant experience and expertise in a range of areas including Student Voice, Student Leadership Initiatives, School Development Planning, School Self Evaluation, Policy Development, Introduction, Implementation and Review of Digital Technologies in teaching, learning and assessment, promoting diversity and inclusion in education and teacher professional development. Ruair\u00ed looks forward to bringing this wealth of experience to the post of Deputy Principal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present Ruair\u00ed is working closely with LMETB\u2019s Director of Schools Fiona Kindlon and Katie Callaghan, Principal, Cara Community Special School in planning for the start – up of the new school. The main focus of planning at present is centred around engagement with parents\/guardians of the students enrolled in Cara Community Special School for the 2024\/2025 academic year, engagement with the NCSE, recruitment and induction of school staff, transfer and transition programme for pupils\/students to their new school, school buildings and facilities development and policy formulation and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Deputy Principal within the LMETB Schools Directorate, Ruair\u00ed will also have the collegial support of the Senior Management teams in LMETB\u2019s eighteen Post Primary schools, four Community National Schools, three PLC colleges and the Centre for European Schooling in Dunshaughlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LMETB schools receive considerable support, guidance and direction from the Director of Schools, Ms. Fiona Kindlon and within the Organisation, Support and Development Directorate, LMETB Schools and Colleges avail of a range of supports including Human Resources, Buildings, ICT, Finance and Corporate and Education Services. This network of support at Head Office level supports the work of the LMETB Board in ensuring that all LMETB schools\/colleges\/centres are compliant in the areas of Corporate Governance. Ruair\u00ed looks forward to engaging with personnel in these sections of LMETB over the coming weeks as he plans for transition to his new leadership role within LMETB. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
