On Sunday afternoon we headed for An Tain for the Music Generation Louth\u2019s annual concert where the younger members of the musical fraternity come together to perform and showcase their work from the previous year. Music Generation creates access to performance music education for children and young people and the Town Hall venue was packed with family and well wishers when I eventually got there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wasn\u2019t too long there when I met up with grannies Joan Myers from Jenkinstown and Irene McElarney from Dublin Road who were with parents Denise and Pat McElarney also from Dublin Road who told me they couldn\u2019t wait to see Dylan who was taking part in the concert and just knew he was going to be great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not too long later I caught up with Sinead O\u2019Callaghan from Blackrock who told me she was there to see Rebecca McCormack and the Funky Monkeys, although she wasn\u2019t quite sure this was the name they were still going by, but just knew they were going to be outstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this I had had the pleasure of meeting Lorcan \u00d3 hUallachan from Knockbridge who said he couldn\u2019t wait to see his grandson Feilim\u00ed Mathews from Kingswood perform and he was just awaiting the arrival of his parents Doireann and Allan Mathews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a bit of a hurry were mother and daughters Siobhan, Sophie and Alison Holland from Armagh Road who informed me that Sophie was actually taking part and she told me she just loves performing with the Music Generation Louth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next I got talking to Ray and Ann McCann from Beechmount Drive who were just after arriving and said granddaughters Ellie and Carla Litchfield where both performing and were sure to be excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then managed a quick word with Paul and Mary McCourt from Lis Na Dara who admitted they couldn\u2019t wait to see daughter Molly in action and wanted to wish her and all the young musicians all the best or their big show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in a bit of a rush to get in were Monica and Molly Connolly from Knockbridge who said Molly would be singing during the concert and really loves all the fun with MGL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I then caught up with my old mate Stoney Malone from Avondale Park who had arrived with son Oisin who had his Uilleann pipes with him but wasn\u2019t too sure if he was playing. He said it\u2019s great craic with the MGL and even if he wasn\u2019t performing the lads were going to watch Oisin\u2019s brother Conall in action with his brand new rock band called Duvet, why Duvet you ask? Well they are a covers band!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this I had the pleasure of speaking to Annmarie and Aisling Thornton who told e Aisling has been with MGL for over a year now and is totally loving it and was really looking forward to singing during the gig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next I met up with Sarah, Ava and Conor Kenny from Mountrath who told me they were there to support Aidan who was playing guitar that evening and were sure he was going to be excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One young lady who was definitely going to enjoy playing her cello was Daisy Carolan from Blackrock who was accompanied by her parent Marc and Dara who couldn\u2019t wait to see and hear her in action. But would the overall sound quality be good enough I wondered?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this I had the pleasure of meeting up with Gerry, Orlagh and Sam Cluskey from Ravensdale who told me they just couldn\u2019t wait to see daughter Lucy singing and wanted to wish her and the rest of the cast all the best with their annual concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next I got a word with Jim Brennan and Trish O\u2019Malley from Omeath who were there to enjoy the hard work of Aine and Grace Brennan that evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making my way through the crowds I then got a word with Carlo Cristini from Seatown who was with wife Carla and kids Flavio and Cecelia who were really looking forward to seeing their sister Sabina sing during the concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
