Community Education

Louth & Meath Education and Training Board ‘s Community Education Service supports and assists new and existing community groups in County Louth and Meath in establishing community-based education programmes. Community Education programmes aim to help learners develop their self-confidence and educational skills base so that they can actively take part in their communities.

The Community Education Service aims to prioritise learners who have had limited educational opportunities to date, or learners who are at risk of social exclusion due to such factors as low-income, old age, disability, isolation, ethnic origin or cultural difference. The programmes offered should always match the needs of the participants and the group has an important role in deciding what they wish to study.

Examples of Programmes offered in Community Education include:

Crafts including pottery and textiles
Personal Development
